I know I have more pictures somewhere... but I can't find them... surprise surprise.
Last month Lincoln's school hatched a few chicks and ducks in their classroom. They only wanted to keep them for a few weeks, because they start stinkin up the room too bad. So we were excited to take them off their hands for them!
Jefferson was in love! He spent probably 2-3 hours A DAY out in our yard chasing and holding those poor, sweet, unsuspecting animals. The chick you see him with in the above pictures was "his". He caught it one morning (before they became a little older and faster) and walked right up to me in the kitchen with it! Jefferson only knows 11 words, and "chick"is one of them :)
They all survived my kids and the neighbor kids handling them all the time, but I couldn't survive the amount of poop they left me to clean up every day. Saturday our friends/neighbors the Downers, were taking some of their unwanted chickens to a bird sanctuary, and mine REALLY wanted to tag along :)
So as of now, we don't have any cute feathered friends just strutting around in our backyard. We only have 4 egg-laying chickens tucked neatly away on the side of our house in their chicken run, and that is how it will be for now. Maybe someday we will live on property where we can have more animals. But right now our 4 little kids and 4 big chickens is all we have room for :)
