Crazy Lincoln

All my kids have crazy sleeping issues. They sleep walk, sleep talk, sleep pee (and not always in the toilet!).And they USUALLY don't believe me when I tell them what they did.

I took this picture 2 weeks ago. Lincoln INSISTS he was awake. He KNEW he was sleeping ON TOP of the laundry baskets.

L.I.A.R!

He was DEAD ASLEEP. I felt so bad when I saw him! Unfortunately for him... my loads were smaller this day, so he wasn't even sleeping on a huge heap of soft clean clothes. He was sleeping mostly on the rim of the laundry baskets! His hip was the only thing cushioned at all. I'm glad I went to check on the noise I heard coming from the laundry room. Otherwise he would have woken up with some stiff muscles!

Then... last night I found him sleeping on his bathroom floor. He at least had the sleep sense to pull down 3 towels to use as a pillow. But he had the bright bathroom light blasting him in the face!

So fun :) I never know where I'll find my kids! This is ONE of many reasons why I've ALWAYS had a baby gate at the top of my stairs!! I can't imagine where they'd go and what they'd do if they had free range of the house!!!

Sunday Afternoons

This is just a typical Sunday afternoon. Daddy goofing around with all the kids (minus one sleepy baby).
We love having at least ONE day where Zach is home with us ALL DAY.

Deer Season

Deer season is upon us, and last week Zach got a 2 point (2 points on each side). He took the meat to the butcher to be cut up and packaged, and brought the antlers/horns home to show the kids. They have been sitting in the garage and have been visited frequently by all 3 kids. Finally I asked Lincoln what he though about them, and he said "Mom, those babies (referring to the antlers) are so big, I could look at them ALL day". Seriously? What 6 year old says that? That kid is ALL Daddy's boy.

Happy Day!

Zach didn't have to work on Saturday (rather... he chose NOT to work) and to hang out with the family! Before we started a house overhaul we made homemade doughnuts! The kids loved cutting them out and loved coating them in cinnamon & sugar or powdered sugar EVEN MORE!!!! We made doughnut holes out of the centers and didn't waste any dough! For sure a REPEAT activity! Thanks Em for the idea!

NO! I did NOT catch him off guard when taking this picture. For some reason he likes to make faces like that almost every time I snap a shot of him! (He's not tired OR stoned either)

Messy helpers! I just love it that they like baking and cooking with me! I've learned to stop caring about the mess, and start enjoying the time we spend making it!

Happy Birthday...Reagan & Lincoln!

Here are some photos of the cakes that "Aunt" Liz made for Lincoln and Reagan! She is INCREDIBLE!!! Forget a regular 9x13! This made their birthdays even happier!

Huntin' With Dad

This was taken a while ago (October 27th, 2008). I just haven't had the time to sit here and try to upload it a million times (because I seriously have to do it a ton of times before it actually works). I love this little boy of ours! He is SO much like his dad. He REALLY loves hunting. He will wear camo clothing for DAYS just hoping that Zach will have time, or that there will be enough daylight by the time he comes home to have a few minutes to go out into the desert and find some animals. Even when they come back empty handed, he is as happy as can be to just have been able to go. And for all of you who are wondering if my little boy is a crazy, cold hearted killer of a little man... he isn't! Just the other day he told me to turn off Thumbalina because it was too sad that she couldn't find Prince Cornelius.

Our newest addtion

Don't even think about asking! The newest addition I am talking about is CHICKS. They arrived last Friday, December 12th. They were dropped off by the post office, and Reagan said "I can't wait to open these babies up!". The kids were in LOVE with these cute little poopers! They all held them for hours and named, and renamed them (when they found out they were all girls). There were 18 total. And they will be divided between 3 different families once they are big enough to be away from the group. What the purpose? Self sufficiency and childhood memories. I wanted a pet that was useful to me. So my kids can learn to take care of animals, while I get dozens of eggs a week. Hopefully they make it to maturity and are prosperous little ladies! Zach is going to be building our coup on the side of the house hidden by a gate. I have no doubt that the structure will be amazing (looking at Zach's history of building and creating)!
Wish us luck!

Harvest Weekend

Harvest Holiday

This past weekend we took a trip up north to St.George and Paragonah. And by "we" I mean that Zach dropped me off in St. George for a little R&R with my two best friends from college (Megan and Melissa), and He took the kids up to his parents house in Paragonah.

Saturday I was..... Hiking around Zion with my gal pals

and almost getting killed by an Elk that was fenced in!

Meanwhile in the mountains near Paragonah,
Zach was going hunting with his dad,
his sister Riley and Lincoln

And the girls were having a good ol' time with Grandma Ginger!! Grandma gave Reagan a makeup box WITH makeup in it! I've never seen such glittery beautiful girls!

Sunday afternoon my friends dropped me off in Paragonah
(not before a few games of Yahtzee could be played)

on their way back to SLC, and I reunited with the fam. The kids had TONS of fun stories to tell me about the 30+ hours they had spent away from me. They always seem to have more fun when I'm not around (to stop them?).

Monday was "Harvest Day".
Harvest day is an official day off for those in school in Southern Utah. I guess it might be equivalent to NEVADA DAY here in Las Vegas. During the morning hunt I took the girls across the street to the playground. Of course we were the only ones there!
It was so nice outside and the girls had a blast.

Riley went to take her permit test (and passed! Way to go lady!) and we headed over to the fishing pond to catch a few fish.

Everyone caught their own fish, however not everyone wanted to touch theirs and throw them back. Lincoln had enough guts for everyone, so he did the dirty work.

Reagan getting as close as she can, by only POINTING to the fish.

McKinley was at least game to hold the line for the picture.

Lincoln liked to feed the ducks, and sometimes he liked to try and kill the ducks with rocks.
Here is a picture when he was being nice.
I tell ya, when it's hunting season, he has a hard time turning off the "kill" switch.

After fishing we stopped by Grandma Cora's house.
After a few Schwan's Ice cream treats we headed home for naps and clean up and MORE hunting.

Lincoln could honestly NOT GET ENOUGH. He doesn't complain at all about riding around for 5-10 hours at a time. Here are a few phrases that Zach told me about. I only wish he could have recorded them!

"I bet when other people drive by our truck they think 'there goes 3 hunters', but they're wrong. There's actually 4 hunters. ME. I'm the 4th one. But actually I'm like the biggest hunter in the truck because I don't just want to kill a deer, but I want to kill EVERYTHING"

Sobbing on their way home the last day.... "Dad, why can't mom just FLY home so we can stay and hunt more? Then when we finally kill a deer we can drive home and meet her there."

"Hit the deer with the TRUCK dad... NOW! Hit it! Hit it! Hit it!"

" I know, we can just make a cage. Then we can catch a male deer, and then next year when deer season comes along, we can just go the cage and shoot it!"

"Riley, it's okay if you shoot a spike...."

While I packed up shop and got ready for the hunters to come back home (sometime after sunset when you LEGALLY can't shoot anymore), Grandma Ginger kept the girls occupied by playing duck duck goose, and painting fingernails and toes! Side note: Reagan wants nothing to do with me when her Grandma is around. I can't take her to the bathroom, put her shoes on, or cut up her food. ALL SHE WANTS IS GRANDMA!!!

How did it all end? Did we have a good time? Well, you can hear for yourself. The kids pretty much summed it all up. I took this video a few minutes after we left Grandma and Grandpa Hulets house. I turned all the lights on inside the truck but you still couldn't see them. So I snapped a few still shots. Play the video and then scroll down through the pictures of the kids.

Yes, that's a tear streaming down Reagan's face onto her neck!

I had to laugh to keep from crying myself. We really feel lucky to have such wonderful friends and family!

Birds

Zach decided to take Reagan to scouts tonight to give me a few minutes with only 2 kids instead of 3. Lincoln feeling torn about not going with Zach says in an attempt to get her to stay "Reagan, are you sure you don't want to stay home? I'm going to be killing birds with my slingshot... and cutting off their heads!" To which Reagan replies in her high pitched voice (totally excited and not horrified at all) "YOU ARE!!" Where did I get these mean killer kids?

School

Lincoln started school this week. It didn't start off so great. Kicking and screaming to say the least. But today, Thursday, day #4, was better. No tears, no yelling or hiding. It has been murder trying to ask him what happened, if he made friends, what he did at recess... etc...

So last night he finally opened up a tiny bit. He was telling us about the letter they went over... the letter B. He said "I tried to tell my teacher that I knew all about B. Like BULLET and BB Gun and BOW, but she didn't call on me." He wasn't that disappointed and neither was I. She'd probably start checking his backpack for weapons if every answer he gives has to do with hunting and weapons!!! 5 year olds rock!

Heaven

Lincoln really wanted knee pads and elbow pads for his birthday this year. He uses ANY excuse to wear them... not just when riding bikes:)
