Last Friday (3.21.09), my parents came home from their mission in Johannesburg South Africa. It was supposed to be a 2 year mission, but about a month ago my Dad got called to be the mission president in.......... THE CONGO. So July 1st they will fly BACK TO AFRICA, except this time it will be a little different. Not so civilized as Joburg (they still had good stores and restaurants). The Congo is way more rustic, and they will have to take a small plane ALL THE TIME to get from one place to another. Not to mention that they will be the only Caucasian people there. It's too dangerous to send missionaries there. Needless to say, I've been having nightmares about all of this!
Although they are home McKinley STILL blesses "Grama and Grampa in Africka" (misspelled on purpose) in EVERY prayer. And if one of us forgets, she reminds us promptly! We are looking forward to a couple of fun filled months with them before they leave again.

I immediately thought of "..." that book we just read about the missionaries in the Congo and I can't remember the name right now. You know! Good luck to your parents :)
oh yeah, "Poisonwood Bible"
I just finished the Poisonwood Bible and glad they made it home safely.
That is too cool. When we lived in SLC, there was a refugee family from the Congo that was relocated in SLC and got baptized here. They were the most humble and amazing family ever. The stories they had about their lives in Africa are crazy. Your parents will be amazing. Hope things are going well for you guys!
